Career Recalibration
For professionals navigating a transition that is bigger than a job search.
Sometimes the question is not what job to apply for next, but what you are actually moving toward now.
A role ends. A sector shifts. A relocation changes the landscape. An opportunity appears that looks good on paper but does not quite fit. The old direction no longer feels obvious, but the new one is not fully formed either.
Career Recalibration is a four-month private coaching engagement designed for this stage.
Not to rush you toward an answer, and not to keep you endlessly exploring, but to help you make better decisions while the transition is still unfolding.
What we work on
Every transition looks different. The underlying questions are often similar.
You may be deciding whether to stay in the same sector or move adjacent, whether a role is genuinely aligned or simply available, how to translate your experience into a different market, decide which parts of your background should lead, or explain your career without giving someone your entire professional history.
The work is to make those decisions with more information, better judgment, and stronger criteria.
By the end, you are not just applying more effort. You are operating from a clearer direction.

How the journey unfolds
The five steps build on each other in order.
01.
Establish where you are
We start with an honest assessment of what has changed, what is not moving, and what questions still need answers. This gives us the baseline for everything that follows.
02.
Clarify what you are deciding
We identify the real decision in front of you which may include your role, sector, geography, seniority, timing, positioning, or whether the old direction still fits.
03.
Translate your experience
We shape your background into language the right people can understand quickly, without flattening what you have actually done.
04.
Build a focused strategy
We narrow the field. Instead of pursuing everything that looks possible, we identify the roles, organizations, and conversations that are most likely to matter given your specific background, level, and direction, so your effort goes where it has the best chance of landing.
05.
Move with intention
As you reach out, have conversations, and go through interviews, we use the responses, silence, feedback, and new information to refine the strategy without losing the thread.
What the full engagement gives you
A working structure for the transition.
Over four months, the work gives you a place to bring the decisions, materials, conversations, feedback, and doubts that come up as you move.
We are not trying to solve everything in theory before you act. We build enough clarity so that you can take the next step, then use what results to refine the strategy.
That may include deciding which roles are worth testing, how to explain your background for a specific opportunity, whether a conversation needs follow-up, how to prepare for an interview, or when a direction is no longer worth pursuing.
The value is not only the plan we build at the beginning. It is having a clear thinking partner as the transition unfolds.
The Results
What clients often notice
- The transition starts to feel more manageable. The decision in front of them becomes easier to articulate, and the noise begins to separate from the signal.
- They leave with a clearer direction, stronger language for their experience, better criteria for evaluating opportunities, and a more focused strategy for the conversations and roles that matter.
- Most of all, the process starts to feel like something they are participating in, rather than something happening to them.
The Investment

FAQ
Common Questions
Maybe. Most of my clients are exactly the kind of people who have always figured things out on their own.
The challenge is that this situation is different. You are not only evaluating opportunities. You are evaluating your own experience, direction, and assumptions while the context around you is shifting. That is genuinely harder to do from the inside.
An outside perspective does not replace your judgment. It helps you see what is harder to see on your own, so you can make decisions with more confidence and less second-guessing.
Nearly twenty years working across international development, multilateral organizations, and senior recruitment — alongside lived experience as a diplomatic spouse and globally mobile professional. This is not generic career coaching adapted for an international audience. The work is built specifically for the career patterns, transition challenges, and professional contexts that come with this kind of career.
If your background is in UN agencies, international NGOs, USAID-funded work, diplomatic postings, or related sectors, this is the world I know.
That is worth taking seriously.
Most career support starts with the CV, the LinkedIn profile, or the search strategy. Those are useful, but they cannot do work the person has not done yet. If the direction is not clear, the level uncertain, or the experience not yet translated for the right audience, better materials only rearrange the confusion.
This engagement starts earlier with the decision, the positioning, and the direction before the tactics. If the support you tried before focused on materials and strategy before those questions were answered, that may be why it did not move things.
Sessions are private, typically sixty to seventy-five minutes, and conducted by video call.
What happens in each session depends on where you are in the engagement. Earlier sessions tend to focus on the situation: what has changed, what is not moving, what the real decision is. Middle sessions tend to focus on positioning and strategy. Later sessions tend to be more responsive, preparing for interviews, evaluating what is coming back, adjusting the approach.
Between sessions, I may review materials you send and respond by email. The expectation is not that you produce deliverables between every session, but that you act on what we have agreed and bring back what you learn.
No. Many clients begin precisely because they do not yet have a clear direction. The early sessions are designed to work through that.
What helps is coming in willing to be honest about what is and is not working, and willing to make decisions once you have enough clarity rather than continuing to explore indefinitely.
Sessions run sixty to seventy-five minutes, roughly every two weeks. Beyond that, the commitment is proportional to what you decide to act on. Some clients spend a few hours between sessions on materials, outreach, or conversations. Others are already in active search and the sessions fit alongside what they are doing. There is no extensive homework. Most of the work happens in the sessions themselves.
The engagement is not structured around landing a specific role in four months. Transitions move at different speeds and much of that is outside either of our control.
What I can tell you is that every client who has engaged seriously with this work has left with something concrete: a clearer direction, stronger language for their experience, better criteria for evaluating opportunities, and a more focused approach to the conversations that matter. The strategy and positioning we develop do not expire when the engagement ends.
Where to start
The first step is a free 30-minute conversation. We will talk about where you are, what decision you are facing, and whether this engagement makes sense for your situation.
